Gilbert, Arizona sits near the top of the list of ‘Best Places to Raise a Family‘. Using data compiled by WalletHub and released just this month, Gilbert scored #13 in the U.S. out of 182 similar sized cities and towns. The criteria are signifiant; Health and Safety, Affordability, Socio-Economics, Family Fun- which includes weather, walkability, parks, playgrounds and entertainment, all areas in which Gilbert consistently excels. But where the town really shines is in the area of Education and Child Care. WalletHub’s article states that “more than half of all U.S. residents live in a child care desert, where need far outpaces supply, according to the Center for American Progress.” Gilbert is categorically not one of those places.
Gilbert’s award winning public schools are renowned for student focus and support, school culture, active teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership, community and parent involvement, and assessment data. Charter and Private Schools in Gilbert also receive high scores from independent studies, students and parents.
From the WalletHub post- “To find the best places for families, personal finance site WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across 46 metrics that consider essential family dynamics, such as the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation.”
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Gilbert, with several celebrated Active Adult communities, has earned numerous honors for being the Best Place for Retirees, Veterans and Senior Citizens.
The population in Gilbert is one of the fastest growing in the country. It consistently ranks one of the best places to live and for good reasons, not the least of which are low crime rates and amazing weather.
The Gilbert lifestyle is one of a thriving, diverse community bursting with parks, leisure activities and an eclectic array of wonderful restaurants. The Riparian Preserve At Water Ranch, connected to Gilbert’s walking-biking+equestrian trail system, is a peaceful bird sanctuary and nature preserve where you can easily imagine you are not right in the heart of town.
You are a manageable drive from Mountains and wilderness, the red rocks of Sedona, the Grand Canyon, countless State and National Parks, and believe it or not, even two fantastic Arizona ski areas!
Gilbert also earned its place on CNN Money’s list of Best Places To Live countrywide for, among other qualities, its “family-friendly neighborhoods set in a community that caters to people who enjoy active lifestyles… awesome events schedule and more golf courses than they have cactus”. The community theater scene is widely celebrated and Gilbert just oozes old west history.
