Buying a New Construction Home? Consider These Upgrades.
Whether you’re building or buying a New Construction home, there’s great advice in the video below. But I would add a few climate specific details for folks here in Arizona.
Good quality windows are a must! Energy costs soar in the sizzling Arizona Summers. In addition to high-end windows I would suggest outdoor sun screens on all, or at the very least West and South facing windows.

On a side note, if you have any intention of using your back yard at all, make sure you start by choosing a lot with a backyard facing anywhere except West. South or East facing back yards work great if you have a pool.
The video suggests wood flooring. Arizona weather is dry nearly all year-round and tends to be tough on wood, real wood dries out very quickly. If you’re thinking of installing real wood floors be sure to treat them at lease annually. Wood laminate works great. Another choice, more durable and depending on you taste just as nice, might be wood-grain tile. I’ve seen several options recently that were very attractive and tile is so much easier to maintain.

Welcome to Today’s Home Update, I’m Amanda.
There’s a lot to think about when building a new home, but the experts at Moen suggest focusing on the following areas.
First, the bathroom. Americans on average spend 45 minutes in the bathroom each day. So it must be both stylish and durable. You can save thousands of dollars in the long run by upgrading your bathroom in the construction process. Consider adding shower seating, grab bars, and multiple sprays, which offer accessibility, safety and relaxation.
Of course as the heart of the home, you’ll spend most of your time in the kitchen, so it should be both functional and enjoyable. Items in the kitchen that can increase your home’s value include energy efficient appliances, an island for increased counter space, and smart home technology such as a touchless faucet.
Finally, consider wood floors which never go out of style. If money is an issue install them in only heavily trafficked areas like the living room, kitchen and foyer. Also there are other stylish and durable options including quality vinyl and laminate that look like real wood.
