Thank You Thursday recognizes a handful of Veterans in Venice, California.
I found the story as disturbing as it was inspiring. Dozens of Veterans showed up to restore a Vietnam Memorial in Venice, CA in time for Memorial Day. Sadly it was necessary because the memorial had been vandalized with graffiti the night before.
The memorial wall has been in place since 1992 and bears the names of 2,273 Vietnam POWs who never came home.
One Arizona, US Navy Veteran, Kelly Townsend and her kids did not hesitate to hop in their car and take the 6-hour drive from Phoenix, Arizona to Venice, to join local Vets and other folks working to repair the damage.
They were successful in eliminating the graffiti, unfortunately some of the names were removed as well. A video on NBC Southern California’s channel 4 website explains that there is a record of the names and they will be replaced.
To those who cared enough to preserve the memory of our missing Vietnam Veterans, Thank You Thursday is yours today!
