In true mythological fashion Phoenix rises from the ashes.

Phoenix rising from the ashes - Bill Salvatore, Realty Excellence East Valley - 602-999-0952A quote from Forbes.com goes like this, “Arizona was absolutely hammered during the financial crisis of the late 2000s”. They aren’t wrong.

I seems, at least to us here in the Phoenix area, that every time there was bad news in 2008 to 20012, every time the country’s housing statistics dropped, Phoenix numbers were worse. But as far as the Phoenix area fell, they’ve managed to pull themselves right back up and then some.

Median home prices are relatively normal with an average yearly rise, and the Real Estate Market is, at least to my fairly well trained eye, very healthy. Foreclosures and Short Sales are nearly non-existent. The unemployment rate, once a disaster at over 11%, is improving every day as more and more large companies see the value in relocating to Arizona. General Motors, Northern Trust, Apple, and local redevelopment are all contributors to the Phoenix area’s job growth. Projected growth numbers are well back into the positive.

I’ve gotta say, this is a great place to live and it’s clear that many, many people realize that. Our 8 months of perfect weather and 4 months of pool weather doesn’t hurt. Our health care industry is flourishing, ditto banking services. And compared to the rest of the country, Arizona is remarkably affordable.

I’m sure we’re all well aware that financial forecasts can change in the blink of an eye, but as Phoenix rises from the ashes once again, I like our chances.
