I’ve always been a pretty big fan of Home Depot. We used to live 40 minutes from the closest Home Depot so I was thrilled when we moved to our current home and there it was, right around the corner. But I read something recently that made me much more than a fan… “like” has now turned into great respect and admiration.

Home Depot recently pledged 1.6 million dollars in grants to Volunteers of America and their affiliates to address critical housing situations for Military Veterans in seven states. And that’s not all, this is an ongoing thing for Home Depot with total contributions of nearly 10 million dollars! As stated in their recent press release, the number of homeless Vets and families who have been helped is astounding… more than 73 veterans’ housing projects, providing over 2,500 units for veterans, including 400+ units specifically for women veterans and their families. This is only a part of Home Depot Foundation’s commitment to improving the housing and the lives of homeless veterans and their families.

As a rule, I’m not easily impressed with big business. Almost all contribute to charitable organizations of one kind or another, but as you can tell, this is a cause that is close to my heart. The company’s employees are also involved. Through Team Depot, employees donate their time and their talent in the communities where they live and work. I am truly impressed. Thank You Home Depot!!
