Not a bad showing for Arizona. Job growth is not through the roof but appears to be somewhat steady at least. ~Bill
Arizona ranks in top 20 states for February job growth
by Eric Jay Toll Reporter- Phoenix Business Journal
Arizona’s employment gains in February put the state in the top 20 for job growth last month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The state’s 2.8 percent job growth placed it 14th among states for job growth by percentage, even while the 71,900 total jobs created was 13th highest last month.
It was a good showing for Arizona, which ranks 15th in population. The data from BLS show that the economy is continuing a slow, steady pace of growth as the year progresses. Regionally, the Grand Canyon State ranked seventh in job growth in the West.
This matches predictions from last fall by various economists at the economic forums.
Utah had the highest employment increase by percentage with 4.2 percent for the month, while California and Texas led the country in jobs added with 476,400 and 375,300, respectively.
Colorado and Idaho, 3.3 percent each, and Nevada, 3.1 percent topped Arizona in the Mountain West region.
