Home Buyer Tip #8. Ever Get the Feeling That Someone is Watching You?

Home Owners Associations or HOAs don’t miss a thing so you’d better be prepared!

If the home you are purchasing is located in an HOA or under the management of a Home Owners Association, or the community is subject to CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions) be sure you obtain a complete copy and REVIEW THEM prior to your inspection period deadline (this is the date on your purchase contract in the section relative to inspections). Imagine your surprise when you arrive with your boat or that beautiful new RV, and you’re not allowed to park it in your yard, or a beloved family pet that is on the HOAs restricted list.

HOAs or covenants can restrict everything from your landscaping and the color of your home, to the flags you display out front, so I can not stress this enough… READ THE REGULATIONS!
