Thank You Thursday honors Police Officers

My intention was to make Thank You Thursday a tribute to Police Officers anyway as this is National Police Week. But today especially, emotions are running very high here in Arizona and Police Officers are top-of-mind for so many folks in the Phoenix Valley and throughout the state. So today’s Thank You Thursday recognizes Law Enforcement Officers everywhere and expresses personal thoughts and prayers for our Phoenix Valley heroes.

Yesterday a Valley officer was critically wounded by a burglary suspect. Today this hero, husband and father of two, is fighting for his life. * Note: Thursday 5/19/16, 12:45pm. Sadly, since the publishing of this blog earlier today, Officer David Glasser, 35, passed away. He was a 12-year veteran of the force, and leaves behind a wife and two young children. Our thoughts are with his family.
Three days ago two local Police Officers were wounded after the suspect shot and killed a woman in Phoenix.
Last month two Chandler Police Offers were shot multiple times after a trespass call at a local Walmart.
Today is the third anniversary of the death of Police Officer Daryl Raetz, struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver who was later found to be in possession of drugs.

We realize that these are just a blip on the radar during this National Police Week. But they were all in the morning news today and suddenly, this ordinary Thank You Thursday became a mission.

I don’t think there exists, enough appreciation in the entire world to appropriately honor the men and woman who choose this profession. I have to admit that though I have great admiration for Police Officers, I do not envy them. I’ve always thought there must be something special in their DNA that inspires them to lay their lives on the line for someone else, every day, to choose an occupation where a mundane task like a traffic stop, can endanger their life.

I can and I do thank Police Officers every chance I get. We all need to do this. Can you even fathom our world without them?

Thank You Thursday is not enough, but it’s what I have to offer today.
