It’s Thanksgiving Day and I am thankful today.
There are troops spending this Thanksgiving Day away from their families, not for their own benefit but for me, and for you.
There are Veterans, Military Patrols, and Police Officers protecting our borders today and every day, not for their own gain but for me, and for you.
There are soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and coast guard for whom this is not a holiday at all, but nothing more than another day at work. They choose to live this life for their country, for me, and for you.
I read a quote the other day that is stuck in my head like a favorite song. “Heroes don’t wear capes, they wear dog tags.” My heroes wear dog tags. How about yours?
There are brave and honorable men and women who literally lay their lives on the line every single day. I have no illusion that this is a comfortable life. It is a selfless life. I know they do this for me. They do this for you.
I am thankful today, and every day.
