I think the Diamondbacks are looking for a food channel reality show. The fare at Chase Field, the Diamondbacks ball park has always been plentiful and diverse, so much so that on my son’s first visit, he dubbed it ‘Diamondbacks mall park’. The endless parade of dining choices was never a bad thing, but it’s getting better in a very conspicuous way!
Last year Chase Field announced the $25 monster corn dog, 18 inches, stuffed with cheese, jalapenos and bacon, served with a side of fries. This behemoth proved so popular early on, that it was questioned whether or not they would be able to keep up with demand.
This year I may be going to the park for dinner, while I just happen to catch a bit of the game. I hear Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles are on the menu, including Fried Green Tomatoes and… you guessed it… Waffles! Customized choices will include burgers from Paradise Valley Burgers, and Zoyo Neighborhood Yogurt with unique toppings.
But the marvel that seized my attention like a heart attack, is called the Churro Dog. Holy Moly!… a warm churro wrapped in a bun made of donut, topped with frozen yogurt, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and caramel. Heart attack indeed!
Is this any way to improve attendance at the ball park? You bet it is!
